Conductivity and Permittivity Image Reconstruction at the Larmor Frequency Using MRI
نویسندگان
چکیده
MREPT: An overview •Magnetic Resonance Electrical Property Tomography (MREPT) aims to visualize both conductivity σ and permittivity ǫ distributions at the Larmor frequency (≈ 128 MHz for a 3 T MRI). • In MREPT, we feed an ac current at the Larmor frequency through a coil located outside of the imaging object Ω. In Ω, the injected current will induce a magnetic field H = (Hx Hy Hz). For r = (x, y, z) ∈ Ω, H is governed by −∇H(r) = ∇ ln γ(r)× (∇×H(r))− iωμ0γ(r)H(r). (♠) Here, μ0 = 4π × 10 H/m is the magnetic permeability in the free space, γ = σ + iωǫ is the admittivity distribution, where ω is the angular frequency. •Using the B1 mapping method, we can measure the positive rotating magnetic field H = 12(Hx + iHy). •The inverse problem in MREPT is to reconstruct the unknown admittivity distribution γ = σ + iωǫ from the given H data.

Permittivity determination via phantom and in vivo B1 mapping
Introduction Tissue permittivity might serve as diagnostic parameter, e.g., for oncology [1]. However, the diagnostic use of the permittivity is significantly hampered by the lack of suitable methods to determine the permittivity in vivo. A possible approach for the determination of permittivity in vivo is given by analyzing the B1 map in the framework of standard MRI, called "Electric Properti...
متن کاملUltra-Fast Image Reconstruction of Tomosynthesis Mammography Using GPU
Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...
متن کاملDetermining electrical properties based on B(1) fields measured in an MR scanner using a multi-channel transmit/receive coil: a general approach.
Electrical properties tomography (EPT) is a recently developed noninvasive technology to image the electrical conductivity and permittivity of biological tissues at Larmor frequency in magnetic resonance scanners. The absolute phase of the complex radio-frequency magnetic field (B1) is necessary for electrical property calculation. However, due to the lack of practical methods to directly measu...
متن کاملNoninvasive Measurement of Conductivity Anisotropy at Larmor Frequency Using MRI
Anisotropic electrical properties can be found in biological tissues such as muscles and nerves. Conductivity tensor is a simplified model to express the effective electrical anisotropic information and depends on the imaging resolution. The determination of the conductivity tensor should be based on Ohm's law. In other words, the measurement of partial information of current density and the el...
متن کاملRecent Progress and Future Challenges in MR Electric Properties Tomography
MR Electric Properties Tomography (EPT) is a lately developed medical imaging modality capable of visualizing both conductivity and permittivity of the patient at the Larmor frequency using B 1 maps. The paper discusses the development of EPT reconstructions, EPT sequences, EPT experiments, and challenging issues of EPT.
